Tip 1 – Pin your number on the night before to get in the right frame of mind. And save you looking for safety pins in the morning.
Tip 2 – Vaseline everything!
Tip 3 – Nothing new on race day – don’t start eating new gels or breaking in new trainers.
Tip 4 – Nipple tape for the longer runs. Do not underestimate how painful this can be!
Tip 5 – Don’t do your laces up tighter than normal just because it’s a race.
Tip 6 – Use the toilets early and bring your own loo roll. Don’t drink for around forty minutes before the start.
Tip 7 – Wear something warm to the start line that you don’t mind throwing away.
Tip 8 – Pace yourself. Adrenaline is running high and everyone wants to go off faster than they should.
Tip 10 – Pick a fine bottom to follow. And then another one.
